Miloš Vučević, president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), conducted visits to Bački Jarak and Temerin to engage with citizens. During these visits, Vučević criticized previous political strategies as a “policy of hatred, violence, and blockades” and advocated for a “free, decent, secure, and economically strong Serbia.” He emphasized the importance of dialogue and identified Aleksandar Vučić as a unifying figure for the nation. Following these local engagements, Milan Knežević, president of Montenegro’s Democratic People's Party (DNP), addressed an SNS rally in Belgrade. Knežević called for unity among Serbs in both Serbia and Montenegro, urging citizens to support the United Serbia coalition led by Aleksandar Vučić. Political tensions have since escalated following the funeral of Ratko Mladić. In a CNN interview, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić clarified that the event was not a state funeral and that no state honors were provided, though the state assisted with logistics due to Mladić’s former rank as a Yugoslav army colonel. Vučić noted that he, the Prime Minister, between 120,000 and 150,000 people attended the Speaker of Parliament did not attend, but suggested ceremony, suggesting the large turnout reflects a perceived “sense of injustice” felt by Serbs toward the international community. In Montenegro, the funeral has triggered parliamentary friction. The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) criticized independent MP Radinka Ćinćur for missing a session intended to discuss removing Speaker Andrija Mandić from his position. Mandić faced the dismissal initiative after expressing condolences for Mladić. The DPS alleged that Ćinćur’s absence protected Mandić and prevented a clear stance on the historical significance of the issues surrounding Mladić and the Srebrenica genocide. Additionally, local officials in Bar have warned against external efforts to incite ethnic divisions.
