Uber has divested its entire stake in Serve Robotics, a sidewalk delivery robot company it previously incubated via Postmates. This decision follows a deteriorating partnership and an impasse regarding deployment strategies for Serve’s fleet of up to 2,000 robots. While Serve Robotics previously saw 17 consecutive quarters of increasing delivery volume through Uber, utilization rates declined in the second quarter of 2026. Following the breakdown of the Uber relationship, Serve Robotics has moved to expand its operations through new partnerships. The company announced a deal with Grubhub to deploy robots in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Alexandria, and Virginia. It is also expanding its presence with DoorDash in San Jose and Washington, D.C. Additionally, To support these operations, Serve Robotics is implementing ‘micro depots’ in Miami to assist with robot maintenance and charging. As Uber has indicated it does not plan to renew its delivery agreement when it expires in 2027, Serve has adjusted its 2026 revenue guidance downward from $26 million to a range of $9 million to $10 million. Beyond food delivery, the company is advancing healthcare automation efforts with the rollout of Moxi hospital robots.
