The Palestinian village of Qusra, near Nablus, has faced a prolonged siege involving Israeli soldiers and radical settlers. Residents report that the military has installed gates and cement blocks to obstruct secondary roads and placed structures to block main access routes to homes. These actions, combined with the cutting of water and electricity to certain residences, are viewed by locals as attempts to force displacement. In a recent escalation, dozens of settlers attacked and occupied a Palestinian family home. During the confrontation, settlers surrounded workers and threw stones at a building where residents were sheltering. While the Israeli military and border police intervened following reports of ‘rioters’ and violent clashes, local residents alleged that soldiers used force against the Palestinian occupants rather than the attackers. At least one Palestinian woman was hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the incident. Although Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a condemnation of the attack, residents reported that no settlers were arrested and that the attackers were permitted to leave the scene. Spokesperson Yair Dvir noted that while such incidents are not new, the level of brutality in these confrontations is increasing across the West Bank. By mid-September 2026, the siege intensified, with Israeli forces and settlers maintaining a blockade on three Palestinian families in the Ras al-Ayn and Al-Maaser areas for approximately 38 days. Despite an Israeli Supreme Court ruling allowing the families to enter and exit their homes, the blockade persists. Qusra Mayor Abdul Azim Wadi reported that the restrictions prevent children from attending school and hinder access to olive groves ahead of the harvest. Furthermore, military forces are reportedly preventing construction on 18 homes in the area. While OCHA and the Red Crescent are coordinating humanitarian aid, deliveries of food and medicine are frequently delayed.
