The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued yellow weather alerts across multiple regions in Spain due to the risk of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. In Cartagena, authorities activated municipal services in a pre-emergency phase following forecasts of intense rain and storms, with potential accumulations of up to 15 liters per square meter in a single hour. Local officials advised residents to clear drains and avoid parking in flood-prone areas. Specific precautions include closing public parks, cordoning off large trees, and exercising extreme caution on roads such as the N-301a and RM-F35. Yellow alerts were extended to the Valencian Community, including the provinces of Valencia, Alicante, and Castellón, where meteorologists warned that rainfall could reach up to 20 liters per square meter in an hour, with the possibility of hail. By mid-October, Aemet issued yellow and orange alerts across several regions, including eastern Andalusia, Murcia, the Balearic Islands, Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Aragon, and Catalonia. As of October 13, the threat of a DANA (isolated high-altitude depression) has intensified. This system is expected to bring heavy, persistent rainfall, storms, and a notable drop in temperatures to the Mediterranean coast, including Alicante, Valencia, Catalonia, and the Balearic Islands. In response to the rising flood risks, emergency protocols such as the Inuncat plan have been activated in Catalonia to manage potential flooding. By October 19, severe weather continued to impact Andalusia. In Cádiz, specifically Arcos de la Frontera, heavy rainfall and hail caused significant flooding, with some areas recording 45 liters per square meter within thirty minutes and a nearby estate measuring 80 liters per square meter. An orange alert remained in effect for the Cádiz countryside and mountains. On October 20, the regional government of Andalucía deactivated its operational flood emergency plan as meteorological alerts ceased.
