Severe weather and environmental risks in Basilicata

On September 2, a violent weather event, described as a downburst or waterspout, struck Policoro and the Metapontino area in Basilicata. The storm caused extensive damage through intense rainfall and wind gusts potentially exceeding 100 km/h, leading to fallen trees, destroyed beach establishments, damaged residential infrastructure, and power outages.
