A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men posing as police officers in Astha Kunj Park near Delhi’s Kalkaji Mandir. The suspects reportedly used a firearm and a knife to threaten the victim and her friend. Following the incident, police apprehended one suspect, Asif, during an exchange of fire near Amar Colony, while two others, Hemant and Mukesh, were also arrested. Subsequent investigations identified Asif, a 32-year-old vegetable wholesaler, as the alleged mastermind. Police recovered a pistol, a knife, and obscene videos from Asif’s mobile phone. Investigators also noted that one suspect, Hemant, is a 24-year-old advocate with prior complaints regarding his behavior toward women. Authorities are currently reviewing the suspects' criminal records to determine if they were involved in previous similar incidents. New details indicate the suspects followed the victim and her friend for nearly a kilometer after they had offered prayers. The brothers, Hemant and Mukesh, reportedly showed “no remorse” during questioning. In response to the incident, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has ordered a security audit of parks. Both the assault and the suspects' actions have led to the registration of FIRs under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
