The 2026 Sher-e-Punjab T20 League commenced following the finalization of rosters for six franchises: Fazilka Falcons, Amritsar Soormas, Bathinda Royals, Jalandhar Warriors, Ludhiana Lions, and Mohali Kings. During the player auction, all-rounder Sanvir Singh became the most expensive player, signed by the Fazilka Falcons for Rs 13.20 lakh to play alongside marquee player Shubman Gill. As the tournament progressed, the Fazilka Falcons secured a narrow one-run victory against the Ludhiana Lions. The match featured the debut of Shubman Gill, who scored 40 runs off 21 balls. Despite a strong bowling performance by Kartik Chadha, who took 4/9, the Falcons managed to defend their total of 170/9 against a chase led by the Ludhiana Lions. In a subsequent match at the I. S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali, the Amritsar Soormas defeated the Fazilka Falcons by four wickets. The Falcons posted 191/6, driven by captain Shubman Gill’s 67 runs off 35 balls, alongside 40 runs each from Pranshu Pratap and Sanvir Singh. Gill was dismissed by Abhishek Sharma during the tenth over. In the chase, Abhishek Sharma contributed a rapid 49 runs off 15 deliveries, while Rahul Kumar anchored the Soormas to victory with an unbeaten 53 off 35 balls, supported by Reaven Preet Singh and Jashanpreet Singh.
