Shooting attack on singer Diler Kharkiya

Overview

On September 18, 2026, Haryanvi singer Diler Kharkiya narrowly escaped injury when unidentified attackers opened fire on his luxury vehicle in Kharak Kalan village. A social media post attributed to Anil Pandit claimed responsibility for the shooting, issuing threats of further violence if certain demands were not met.

Following the attack, a joint operation by the Sonipat STF and the Delhi Crime Branch led to an encounter with Rohit, also known as Budha, an accused in the shooting. During the encounter between Barota and Chhathera, Rohit allegedly fired at officers while attempting to flee on a motorcycle. In the retaliatory firing, Rohit sustained gunshot wounds to both legs and was admitted to Sonipat Civil Hospital.

Authorities recovered a pistol, a motorcycle, and a bag from the scene. Police identified Rohit as a wanted criminal with over a dozen cases involving robbery, extortion, and attempted murder, noting his alleged links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
