Following an accidental leak on the Xbox Store, Aspyr Media, DreamWorks Animation, and Universal have officially announced ‘DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered’. The definitive edition of the 2004 action-adventure game is scheduled for release on November 10, 2026. Confirming earlier speculation, the remaster will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Technical upgrades include 4K resolution, 60 FPS performance, redesigned user interfaces, rebuilt polygonal models with high-definition textures, enhanced lighting, and updated cutscenes. New gameplay features include a Photo Mode and a Cheats Menu. The multiplayer experience has been significantly expanded from the original local-only version to support local co-op for up to four players, online co-op, and a ‘mixed mode’ that allows local and online players to play together. Players can also swap between characters such as Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey on the fly to utilize unique abilities. An announcement trailer included a parody of Grand Theft Auto VI, referencing the proximity of the two releases. The game will retail for $29.99, with digital pre-orders currently available at a discounted price of $26.99.
