Silver prices have experienced a significant upward trend, reaching decade-highs of approximately $65.48 per ounce in mid-August. This surge is attributed to a dual demand structure involving both investment hedging against inflation and heavy industrial use in sectors such as green technology, semiconductors, and electric vehicles. By late August, prices surpassed the $50 threshold, a level that had functioned as a ceiling for roughly 45 years. Analysts suggest that $50 may now act as a new price floor. Market forecasts indicate potential targets As of late August 2026, analyst Peter Krauth has reinforced this bullish outlook, predicting that silver prices could reach between $80 and $85 by the end of 2026, the year. Speaking on the Money Metals podcast, Krauth noted that the metal is currently “moderately underpriced” following its breakthrough of the long-standing $50 resistance level. Krauth identifies $50 as the new price floor, barring a “major black swan event.” He attributes the continued upward pressure to a hybrid demand structure where roughly half the market is driven by industrial consumption and emerging technologies, while the other half is supported by monetary and investment uses. While previous price increases were tempered by large stockpiles, Krauth notes that depleted exchange inventories and strong industrial consumption. consecutive years of supply deficits are now driving the market forward.
