Sindos: 59-year-old arrested for six consecutive arsons Arson incidents in Greece

Authorities in Greece have detained individuals in connection with separate arson incidents. In Kefalonia, a 44-year-old man with a prior record for similar offenses was placed in pre-trial detention after being accused of deliberately starting a fire in the Pastra area. The blaze consumed over 6,000 stremmata of forest and agricultural land, causing significant ecological damage. In Thessaloniki, a 59-year-old man was arrested for allegedly committing six intentional arsons in the Sindos area over a three-day period. The fires destroyed approximately 35 stremmata of land and caused temporary railway disruptions. The suspect reportedly confessed to the acts, claiming he started the fires to “relieve himself from work” due to professional stress.
