Various communities in Belgium and the Netherlands are organizing seasonal Sinterklaas festivities. In Belgium, Erpe-Mere has established a ‘heaven bus’ at the EMotia Steenberg domain where children can submit letters and drawings to receive responses. In Waregem, celebrations are planned for the weekend of November 21 and 22, featuring a horse-drawn carriage procession, a meeting with the mayor, and theatrical performances. In the Netherlands, Westerhaar is hosting a fundraising bingo night on November 6 to support the arrival of Sinterklaas on November 21. Meanwhile, Waalwijk has scheduled festivities for November 15, beginning with the arrival of the Pakjesboot in the harbor, followed by a parade, a mayoral welcome, and a live concert. Newer announcements for the 2026 season include festivities in Soesterberg, where the arrival of Sinterklaas and his companions is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, at Den Berghplein. This event will feature music, dancing, and coloring contests. Additionally, the broadcaster Centraal+ is launching the ‘Sintvoorieder1’ campaign in the Leiderdorp region. This charitable initiative aims to collect 50,000 new gifts, such as toys and books, for children aged 0 to 17. Donations can be made at the Leiderdorp town hall between November 16 and November 20 to ensure children in need receive gifts on December 5.
