Six Kings Slam tennis tournament postponed in Riyadh

The Six Kings Slam tennis tournament, originally scheduled for October 2026 at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, has been postponed. Organizers have rescheduled the event to take place from December 27–30.

This decision follows significant security concerns in Saudi Arabia, specifically a recent attack on Riyadh International Airport. The attack, for which Ansar Allah claimed responsibility, resulted in at least 12 deaths and over 300 injuries. Riyadh Season stated the postponement was necessary after evaluating “organizational and logistical challenges” to ensure the tournament maintains high standards and a quality experience for the public.

The high-stakes exhibition was set to feature top players including Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, and Taylor Fritz. However, it remains uncertain if all scheduled players will participate, as the new December dates fall during the tennis off-season.

The security situation is affecting various sporting activities across the Kingdom. Several Saudi Pro League fixtures have been postponed, and the Japan Football Association has declined to participate in FIFA-organized events in Jeddah following safety assessments. Additionally, the Asian Tour golf circuit is monitoring conditions ahead of the Saudi International, and the Australian Football Federation is maintaining security monitoring of the region. These disruptions occur as Saudi Arabia prepares for major upcoming international events, including the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
