The Slovak Ministry of Interior has initiated several administrative and strategic developments. The ministry signed memorandums with the Association of Self-Governing Regions of Slovakia (SK8) and the Association of Towns and Villages of Slovakia (ZMOS) to enhance crime prevention and regional security through information exchange and victim protection services. Concurrently, the government approved an 85.3 million euro project to construct a new administrative center in ~~Bratislava. This~~ Bratislava, located on Pribinova Street. Designed to accommodate between 1,018 and 1,350 employees, the initiative also includes the reconstruction of the ministry’s existing 1932 headquarters, which officials noted is in poor technical condition regarding insulation, windows, and electrical wiring. The plan aims to consolidate ~~ministry~~ operations from more than ten buildings down to four to improve departmental cooperation and reduce operational and transactional costs. Funding ~~for the new center~~ is intended to come from the sale of surplus ministry-owned ~~buildings.~~ buildings, specifically properties in the Ružinov and Nivy districts, with any remaining costs potentially covered by EU funds. The proposal has faced criticism from the Hnutie Slovensko opposition. Lawmakers Roman Mikulec and Gábor Grendel characterized the plan as a “gift for developers” and argued that funds should instead be prioritized for increasing the salaries and equipment of police, firefighters, and mountain rescue services during a period of fiscal consolidation.
