Slovak municipal election results
Overview
The Slovak municipal and regional elections have concluded with varying outcomes for major political entities. The HLAS – social democracy party emerged as the most successful force, securing representation in 669 municipalities and towns, including 568 mayoralties. In total, HLAS and its coalition partners obtained 2,345 seats across regional, city, and municipal councils. Notable successes for the party included the reelection of Nitra Governor Branislav Becík and the mayoral victory of Oľha in Prešov.
In contrast, the Hungarian Alliance (Magyar Szövetség) experienced significant losses. The party is expected to hold 37 regional council seats, a decrease of approximately 32 percent from the 54 seats held following the 2022 elections. Losses were recorded in every affected county, most notably in Košice and Nitra. While several mayors in Hungarian-populated areas retained their positions, the party secured fewer mayoralties overall than in the previous cycle.
