On 1 August 2026, President Nataša Pirc Musar was involved in a traffic collision in the Kastelec tunnel on Slovenia’s coastal highway. Two police vehicles escorting the presidential convoy were part of the crash; the president suffered minor injuries and a companion was seriously injured.
