The wreckage of the Tecnam P2002 JF aircraft has been successfully recovered from Lake Attersee, five days after the fatal crash. The recovery operation took place at a depth of approximately 160 to 163 meters near Steinbach am Attersee. Initial attempts to retrieve the single-engine propeller aircraft, operated by an Austrian flight school, using a remote-controlled diving robot were unsuccessful due to murky water and a lack of suitable attachment points. The operation eventually succeeded after specialist divers were deployed to manually attach salvage lines to the wreckage, allowing a winch on a floating platform and a mobile crane to lift the aircraft to the surface. The two occupants, a 24-year-old German flight instructor and a 19-year-old German student, were both found deceased within the wreckage. Authorities are working to formally identify the victims through DNA analysis.
