An influencer and content creator in São Paulo, Brazil, was targeted by thieves while stopped in traffic on Avenida Presidente Tancredo Neves. Dashcam footage showed two men on a motorcycle approaching the vehicle, with a passenger breaking a car window to seize a cellphone from the dashboard. Following the theft, the victim reported that unauthorized bank transfers were made from her account. The perpetrators reportedly managed to bypass security measures and access funds despite not having the victim’s passwords, PIN, or facial recognition data. Nubank stated it would investigate the matter internally, and the case has been referred to the 95th Police District in Heliópolis for investigation. The victim released the dashcam footage to warn others, advising that smartphones should not be left visible in vehicles. This incident has been noted is being viewed as part of a ‘rapid robbery’, known locally as ‘arrastão’, and highlights a broader trend where criminals exploit traffic congestion to steal smartphones to gain immediate access to sensitive personal of quick-strike crimes in Brazilian metropolitan areas. Data from the Mapa do Crime platform indicates that nearly 5,000 motorcycle-related thefts and financial data. robberies were recorded in São Paulo in 2025. Additionally, the German Foreign Office has issued warnings to travelers regarding high crime rates in major Brazilian cities.
