SMEDAN entrepreneurship and empowerment initiatives

Overview

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has entered into several strategic partnerships to bolster entrepreneurship and digital skills within the country.

Initially, SMEDAN partnered with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to promote youth empowerment and cybersecurity. This collaboration focuses on discouraging cybercrime by providing practical skills through the proposed Inspire, Create, Start and Scale (ICSS) Institute and integrating curricula into the EFCC’s Cybersecurity Research and Training Centre.

Subsequently, SMEDAN expanded its initiatives through agreements with the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) to implement MSME development programs across 774 Local Government Areas via the ‘One Local Government One Product’ (OLOP) initiative. Furthermore, SMEDAN is working with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to establish the Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship (ACE), a digital program aimed at driving innovation and skills acquisition for young people and small businesses.
