Snake sightings and interventions in Romania

Overview

In September 2026, a snake exceeding 1.5 meters entered a restaurant in Mamaia Sat, causing panic among staff and customers. Constanța County Gendarmerie officers responded to the emergency call and captured the reptile without injury to humans or the animal, subsequently releasing it into its natural environment.

In October 2026, a similar incident occurred in Medgidia when a resident discovered a large snake coiled around a shower hose in her bathtub. The Romanian Gendarmerie arrived at the residence and successfully captured the snake, which was then released into a natural habitat far from residential areas.
