The São Paulo Metro is progressing through the testing and integration phases of the Line 17-Gold monorail project, which connects Congonhas Airport to the city’s rail networks. In late September 2026, the Metro extended its contract with the BYD SkyRail São Paulo consortium through April 2027 to facilitate technical work. Following the delivery of the final train, teams began using a “carousel” methodology to conduct dynamic integration tests and verify automated traffic systems. By As of September 30, 2026, the line has transitioned to an expanded operating schedule, running from 06:00 to 22:00, Monday through Saturday. This phase utilizes a new operational format involving five BYD-manufactured trains circulating between Morumbi and Congonhas Airport, with a sixth train providing shuttle service between Brooklin Paulista and Washington Luís. This configuration aims to reduce passenger wait times from 18 minutes to approximately 9 minutes. Due to this new configuration, passengers traveling to or from Washington Luís station must transfer at Brooklin Paulista. The service remains in a transitional, free-of-charge phase to allow for operational testing the São Paulo Metro to conduct essential system tests, monitor infrastructure performance, and analyze passenger demand analysis before permanent commercial operations begin.
