The São Paulo Metro is undergoing various service and technological updates. In late September 2026, the city expanded public health access by installing a sixth automated machine at the Brigadeiro station on Line 2-Green. These machines, part of a partnership with the Municipal Health Secretariat, dispense HIV prevention medications including PrEP, PEP, and self-test kits. Since the first machine launched in June 2024, approximately 18,000 pickups have been recorded. To use the machines, users must complete a medical evaluation via the e-saúdeSP app to receive a digital prescription and QR code. Other active machines are located at Consolação, Santana, Luz, Vila Sônia, and Brás stations. In October 2026, the Metro began a digital modernization rollout by implementing Pix as a payment method for self-service ticket machines. machines, specifically for Autopass-operated TOP system machines purchasing QR Code tickets. The rollout commenced on October 20 exclusively for Line 1-Blue. 1-Blue, with full enablement expected by October 22. The implementation schedule for automated terminals includes Line 2-Green from October 23 to 26, Line 3-Red on October 27 and 28, and Line 15-Silver on October 29 and 30. This update complements existing payment options such as credit and debit cards, TOP and Bilhete Único cards, mobile apps, WhatsApp, and contactless turnstile payments. This transition coincides with the phasing out of traditional Edmondson magnetic tickets. Passengers have until October 31 to use these tickets before the Metro provides exchange stations for commuters.
