Social policy initiatives in the Madrid region have focused on community welfare, inclusion, and specialized services for vulnerable populations. The Madrid City Council has engaged in discussions with the Madrid College of Social Work regarding the reorganization of Child Care Centers (CAI), addressing concerns over the role of social workers and citizen intervention. Additionally, the Council established a two-year partnership with AutentiZity to promote equality, diversity, and the inclusion of people with disabilities. Expanding on regional social measures, the Community of Madrid announced plans for 2027 that include the ‘Carné Senior’ to support active aging for residents over 55 through discounts and digital literacy training. The regional government also authorized over one million euros for a socio-sanitary intervention service aimed at mental health, addiction prevention, and supporting homeless individuals. Further regional funding has been approved to bolster employment and family welfare. The Community of Madrid is increasing its budget for the ‘Tarifa Cero’ program and permanent employment incentives by 3 million euros, bringing the total allocation to 45 million euros. This includes Social Security reimbursements for new self-employed workers and subsidies for companies hiring the long-term unemployed or workers in rural municipalities. Additionally, approximately 119 million euros has been reserved between 2027 and 2029 for pregnancy and maternity benefits, providing monthly support to eligible women. To support scientific development, the region is also funding 200 predoctoral research contracts through 2030. Recent regional developments include the approval of 15.6 million euros to support 720 people with disabilities through extended residential and day assistance contracts. In the healthcare sector, approximately 16 million euros is designated to update the Onesait Healthcare platform for digital health and electronic medical records. Furthermore, a 20-million-euro budget has been allocated for flu and COVID-19 vaccination campaigns, which have already administered over 200,000 doses.
