Sony has expanded its E-mount lens portfolio, beginning with the release of two new macro lenses: the FE 100mm f/2.8 macro GM OSS for full-frame users and the SEL 30mm f/3.5 macro for APS-C Alpha NEX cameras. Following these releases, Sony introduced the FE 8-14mm F3.5 G (SEL814G), its first native fisheye zoom lens for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras. Scheduled for release on October 9, the lens features an inner zoom mechanism, dust and moisture resistance, and two linear motors for fast autofocus. On September 15, 2026, Sony announced two lightweight super-telephoto prime lenses: the FE 400mm f/4.5 GM OSS and the FE 600mm f/6.3 GM OSS. Designed to weigh under 1 kilogram (approximately 994g and 995g respectively), Sony claims these are the “lightest lenses in their respective classes.” The lenses utilize two XD Linear Motors to support high-speed tracking up to 120 fps and incorporate Super ED and ED elements to reduce chromatic aberration. In India, the lenses became available for purchase on September 24, 2026, priced at Rs 3,10,990 for the 400mm model and Rs 4,28,990 for the 600mm model. Performance testing indicated that the 400mm f/4.5 GM paired with a 1.4x teleconverter provided the sharpest results at 560mm, while the 600mm f/6.3 GM with a 1.4x teleconverter showed exceptional contrast and detail at 840mm. In the US, the 400mm model is priced at $2,699.99 USD and the 600mm at $3,699.99 USD, with availability expected in October 2026. On October 8, 2026, Sony Korea launched the same two super-telephoto lenses. The Korean models utilize magnesium alloy and high-strength plastic to maintain a weight under 1kg, with a design that shifts the center of gravity toward the camera body to improve handheld stability. When paired with the Alpha 9 III, they support continuous AF/AE shooting at up to 120 fps. The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS is priced at 4,199,000 KRW, and the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS is priced at 5,899,000 KRW.
