Sony has announced a new generation of high-end Walkman digital music players aimed at the audiophile market. The flagship NW-WM1ZM3 features a gold-plated, 99.99% pure oxygen-free copper chassis, Kimber Kable internal wiring, and a dual high-capacity solid polymer capacitor power supply. It supports high-resolution playback, including 11.2 MHz/1-bit DSD and 384 kHz/32-bit PCM, and includes a vinyl processor to simulate analog sound. Technological updates across the series include the S-Master HX digital amplifier with a “look-ahead noise shaper” and a DSD Remastering Engine. Engine that converts PCM audio into an 11.2 MHz DSD stream. The devices run on Android 16. 16 and include 4.4 mm balanced headphone outputs. In the United States, the flagship is priced at $5,899.99, the NW-WM1AM3 at $2,999.99, and the NW-ZX900 at $1,899.99.
