Lottery draw updates: SA, Canada, Philippines, NZ
Overview
Lottery activities across South Africa, Canada, the Philippines, and New Zealand have seen various jackpot wins and unclaimed prizes through July and August 2026.
In South Africa, early July draws saw prize pools totaling approximately R16.2 million. By July 22, estimates for the main Lotto, Lotto Plus 1, and Lotto Plus 5 Max rose to R21 million, R3 million, and R5 million respectively. On July 29, it was confirmed that the R20,082,438 Lotto 5 Max jackpot was claimed via the FNB banking app, with a R3.85 million second prize won through the Capitec app.
Canada’s Lotto Max reported an unclaimed $15 million jackpot on July 3, followed by an unclaimed $20 million jackpot on July 21. The prize pool was scheduled to increase to $25 million for subsequent draws.
The Philippines’ Charity Sweepstakes Office held a 6/45 Mega Lotto draw on July 24, awarding a ₱17.8 million jackpot.
New Zealand has experienced several significant payouts and rollovers. Following a $1 million First Division win in Christchurch on July 8, a player from Napier won a $1 million Lotto First Division prize via MyLotto on August 8. While the Powerball jackpot remained unclaimed at that time, the Strike Four jackpot was also set to increase to $400,000.
By August 22, the New Zealand Powerball had not been won during draw 2614, resulting in a rollover to a jackpot set to reach $20 million. During that same draw, four players won $250,000 each in the Lotto First Division, and the Strike Four jackpot rolled over to $700,000.
