South Korean companies have achieved high rankings in various 2026 industry reports. In the Korea Quality Satisfaction Index (KS-QEI) organized by the Korean Standards Association, Samsung Electronics secured first place in 14 categories, including home appliances, televisions, and smartphones. This marks the company’s 18th consecutive year with the highest number of category wins. Samsung dominated the home appliance sector with 10 first-place rankings for products such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and vacuum cleaners. KT also earned top rankings in high-speed internet, IPTV, and mobile communications. KT has maintained its top position in high-speed internet for 11 consecutive years, IPTV for 10 years, and mobile communications for seven years, attributing its success to “AI-driven network management and service improvements.” In the Interbrand ‘Best Global Brands 2026’ report, Samsung Electronics was ranked as the 5th most valuable brand globally, with its value increasing to $105.2 billion. Hyundai Motor Company reached a brand value of $25 billion, ranking 29th overall and 4th among automotive brands. This represents Hyundai’s highest-ever ranking in the report and 17 consecutive years of growth since 2010. Regarding financial performance, Hyundai Motor reported a 5.5% increase in third-quarter operating profit, reaching 2.67 trillion won ($2.01 billion), despite a 3.4% decline in revenue to 45.11 trillion won. This growth was supported by favorable exchange rates, cost-reduction efforts, and an expanded sales mix of high-value hybrid vehicles, which grew to represent 18.2% of global sales. However, global wholesale sales fell 11.3% year-on-year to 920,710 units, impacted by production disruptions from domestic labor strikes and reduced working days during the Chuseok holiday. Due to these uncertainties and rising raw material costs, Hyundai has lowered its 2026 annual vehicle sales target from 4.16 million to 4 million units and reduced its operating profit margin guidance to a range of 5.5%–6.5%.
