South Korean companies reported diverse financial results for the third quarter of 2026. In the technology and beauty sectors, several firms saw significant growth driven by international markets. Amorepacific Group reported a 24.7% increase in operating profit to 130.1 billion won, supported by the success of derma brands like Aestura and Illiyoon in North America, Japan, and India. APR reported a 68.9% increase in operating profit to 160.6 billion won, with quarterly revenue doubling to 773.1 billion won, driven by its Medicube brand and a 135% surge in overseas sales. However, APR noted that its operating margin declined due to currency fluctuations. Kia reported a 24.3% increase in operating profit year-on-year to 1.81 trillion won, aided by high demand for hybrid and electric vehicles in the US and Europe. Profitability was pressured by rising raw material costs and Middle East conflicts, resulting in a lower operating margin than initially targeted. In the medical technology sector, JVM recorded a 30.4% increase in operating profit to 9.9 billion won due to rising demand for automated dispensing equipment in North America. Samsung Electronics achieved record-breaking results, becoming the first global technology company to report quarterly operating profits exceeding 100 trillion won. Total revenue reached 195.3 trillion won, a 127% increase year-over-year, while operating profit reached 107.4 trillion won. This growth was driven almost entirely by the semiconductor division, which generated 106.5 trillion won, accounting for approximately 99% of the group’s total profit. This surge was fueled by demand for AI infrastructure, specifically HBM4 and server-grade SSDs. However, the Device eXperience division reported an operating loss of 0.8 trillion won due to cost pressures, and Samsung shares fell as investors compared the results to competitor SK Hynix. Conversely, Hanwha Aerospace reported a 46% decrease in operating profit to 452 billion won, despite revenue of 6.09 trillion won, due to the timing of defense contract deliveries and losses within its aerospace division.
