South Korean K-Beauty global market expansion

Overview

The South Korean beauty industry, or K-Beauty, has experienced significant international expansion, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

In Brazil, cosmetic exports from South Korea rose from US$ 5.17 million in 2020 to US$ 54.36 million in 2025. During the first half of 2026, exports to Brazil surged by 237.4% compared to the previous year. This economic growth has transitioned into a diplomatic matter, with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung including major beauty firm executives in official delegations to Brazil.

On a global scale, the e-commerce platform Musinsa reported a 434.6% increase in K-beauty transaction volume between January 1 and September 15, 2026, compared to the same period the previous year. The growth is largely driven by SMEs, which account for 88 of the top 100 beauty brands by transaction volume on the platform. Musinsa facilitates this international reach across 13 regions by providing infrastructure services such as global fulfillment and automated review translation.
