South Korea has implemented various initiatives to promote regional economic activity and tourism. In Gokseong, the ‘Gokseong Employment and Startup Festa’ was held to provide job counseling, startup showcases, and hands-on visitor experiences. Additionally, the cosmetics brand Jamin Kyung engaged in product promotion at the ‘2026 Ground Forces Festival’ in Gyeryongdae. Expanding on regional promotion, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has launched international marketing campaigns to attract global tourists to snack food festivals in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas. These efforts, which include themed packages for international visitors and social media influencer collaborations, focus on local culinary assets such as the Daegu Tteokbokki Festival, the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival, and the Gumi Ramen Festival. To target markets with high interest in Korean cuisine, such as Taiwan, the KTO is working with local travel agencies to create themed packages. Recent festival activities have seen significant engagement. The 3rd Gimcheon Gimbap Festival attracted approximately 160,000 visitors, showcasing roughly 60 varieties of gimbap. To manage large crowds, organizers utilized shuttle buses and a QR code-based ordering system. Additionally, the 20th Cheongsong Apple Festival featured apple-themed games, parades, and an airshow by the Republic of Korea Air Force Black Eagles, with its online component attracting over 2.5 million visitors.
