South Korea is implementing measures to support small business owners and self-employed individuals facing financial instability due to high interest rates and sluggish domestic consumption. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups launched a nationwide consultation initiative across 14 regions to provide customized guidance on debt adjustment, policy funding, and business reorganization. This program includes providing management diagnosis reports to help owners assess their commercial district status and sales trends. Concurrently, the government announced a debt restructuring plan specifically targeting unsecured loans incurred during from the COVID-19 pandemic. Following interest rate increases by the Bank of Korea, the program aims to assist borrowers with long-term delinquent loans held by public agencies and financial institutions.
