In late September, the Southern Transitional Council (STC) intensified its organizational and political activities. Monthly executive meetings were held in Aden’s Mansoura district and Lahj’s Karsh district to address security and humanitarian concerns, including pressure on public services and military readiness. On the political front, Nasr Harhara warned against “coordination councils,” characterizing them as tools for foreign interests, while the STC rejected reports of “Yemeni Northern Emergency Forces” deployment in Aden as a provocation. Following an extraordinary meeting on October 4, STC President Aidarous al-Zoubaidi declared a general mobilization. This includes the ‘General People’s Mobilization Rally for the Defense of Southern Arabia and its National Cause,’ scheduled for October 14, 2026, in Aden and other southern provinces. The rally aims to support southern armed forces and the STC’s project of restoring a sovereign southern state. To maintain regional relations, STC Secretary-General Waddah al-Halimi urged participants to remain peaceful and avoid “insults toward Saudi Arabia.” Implementation of this mobilization has expanded geographically. In the Socotra Archipelago, local leadership led by Saeed Omar Mohammed bin Qablan began distributing registration forms to organize participants.
