Spain European ice cream market consumption and spending rise trends

Recent data indicates rising ice cream consumption and market value across European markets. In France, total sales exceeded €1 billion in 2025, driven by a trend where consumption is no longer strictly limited to the summer season. While over half of purchases still occur in summer, growth has been noted in colder months, particularly in the Nord department. Health experts have responded to these trends by advising moderation and a preference for fruit-based sorbets over ultra-processed products to mitigate cardiovascular risks. Similarly, in Spain, data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) shows that per capita consumption rose by 11.2% between June 2025 and May 2026. The total market value in Spain reached 762.68 million euros, a 16.3% increase from the previous year. Unlike the French trend of year-round growth, Spanish consumption remains highly seasonal, with 81.6% of volume consumed between April and September.
