The interest in natural-water swimming sites across Spain continues to grow as rising summer temperatures drive visitors to various low-cost, outdoor locations. Popular sites include the Toledo pools of La Playita de Navamorcuende and the River Estenilla, the granite basins of Los Pilones in Cáceres, and the family-friendly waters of Beceite in Aragón. In Catalonia, visitors frequent the Gorg de la Malatosca, the warm waters of Fontcalda, and the travertine-lined Bores del Borró. In the Granada province, options include high-altitude spots like Poza del Río Grande in Trevélez, the Río Dílar, Río Maitena, the Raja de Alicún thermal pools, and the Fuencaliente spring. In the Sierra de Guadarrama, Las Presillas in Rascafría has become a major destination; its three natural pools on the Lozoya River maintain temperatures between 14 and 18 degrees Celsius due to high altitude and snowmelt. This surge in proximity tourism has driven weekend occupancy rates near 95% in the Rascafría area. Other nearby options for those escaping the capital include Playa de la Virgen de la Nueva in the San Juan reservoir and Las Berceas in Cercedilla. To escape the summer heat, Madrid residents are also turning to inland alternatives to avoid crowded coastal beaches. In Estremera, on the border of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, the Los Villares area on the Tajo River has become a popular spot featuring amenities such as parking, showers, and a kiosk. Additionally, the Lagunas de Ruidera Natural Park in Ciudad Real offers 15 interconnected emerald-colored lakes where visitors can participate in kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling.
