Spanish municipal and state employment recruitment
Overview
Spanish municipalities and state agencies continue to implement various public sector recruitment processes and employment support initiatives.
At the national level, the Spanish State Gazette (BOE) has announced 8,057 public employment vacancies, including over 2,000 positions for the National Police and 1,700 for State Administrative Assistants. The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (Aemps) is also allocating 79 high-qualification and ICT positions. Additionally, the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) has announced a selection process for 197 positions dedicated to information and taxpayer assistance. These roles, classified as labor personnel within professional group I2, are available via free access for external candidates and internal promotion for current employees. Vacancies are distributed across 28 provinces, with the highest concentrations in Madrid (62), Barcelona (24), Valencia (9), and the Balearic Islands (9).
In Andalusia, recruitment efforts are expanding across several sectors. The Agency for Environment and Water (Amaya) is closing applications for a temporary employment pool, while eight interim administrative positions have been announced for public schools in Cádiz. In Granada, a National Police unit has expanded to 42 agents to oversee environmental and minor protection.
Local municipal programs remain active. The Alcalá de Guadaíra City Council has launched an employment program via its Delegation of Employment, offering paid internships in collaboration with the entity Obsidia. In Málaga, the ‘Zona Empleo’ program, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is set to launch in October to improve digital skills and employability.
In Plasencia, the City Council has initiated its 2025 public employment offer to fill 13 positions, prioritizing maintenance, public works, and municipal services. Selection processes are currently underway for roles such as masonry, locksmithing, and library assistants, with further examinations for painters, cemetery operators, cleaners, and social workers scheduled through October.
