Municipalities across Spain are implementing various initiatives to enhance waste management and recycling services. In Teulada Moraira and Mos, local governments have deployed mobile recycling points to collect specialized waste such as small appliances, batteries, textiles, and used cooking oils. These efforts in Mos were supported by European Union funding through the Galicia Feder 2021-2027 program. Other regions are focusing on seasonal demand and infrastructure modernization. In Yunquera de Henares, the Mancomunidad Vega del Henares activated a reinforcement plan using 36 mobile containers to manage increased waste during the All Saints Day holiday. Meanwhile, the Mancomunitat de la Baronia is transitioning to a new selective collection system by replacing existing paper and packaging containers with more efficient side-loading containers across nine municipalities to align with circular economy goals. Recent developments show a shift toward technological modernization and fleet upgrades. The government of Melilla has launched a tender worth 1.22 million euros to acquire 15 new vehicles and seven pieces of auxiliary equipment. Environment Counselor Daniel Ventura stated the plan aims to improve working conditions for municipal staff and enhance resources for maintaining green zones and trees. In the Region of Murcia, the City Council of Mula is partnering with MOVISAT to modernize street cleaning through the EcoSAT platform and IoT sensors. This project, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the SmartRegion initiative, intends to monitor service performance in real time and optimize routes to reduce costs and environmental impact.
