The Spanish music scene has seen recent developments regarding major events. The SanSande Benicàssim festival announced its first fifty artists for the 2027 edition, which will feature a mix of rock, pop, and electronic music. The festival also includes visual artistry by Okuda San Miguel. Separately, RTVE has unveiled the 18 artists selected to compete in the sixth edition of Benidorm Fest, scheduled for January 26 to 30, 2027. The participants were chosen from 896 song submissions. The lineup includes established names such as Merche, who is celebrating 25 years in her career, and returning artist Vicco, alongside others including Gale, Andrés Koi, Isabel Aaiún, and Ladilla Rusa. The competition will feature semifinals on January 26 and 28, concluding with a grand final on January 30 at the Palau d’Esports L’Illa de Benidorm. Participants will compete for the ‘Sirenita de Oro’, with official songs scheduled for release on December 17, 2026. Following Spain’s withdrawal from the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest due to disagreements with the European Broadcasting Union regarding Israel, the connection between Benidorm Fest and Eurovision remains uncertain. RTVE has not officially confirmed if the winner will represent Spain in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest. RTVE president José Pablo López previously indicated a proposal to maintain the suspension for 2027 due to unresolved ethical concerns.
