Public transportation networks across various Spanish cities are undergoing transitions following summer maintenance and in preparation for the upcoming academic year. Infrastructure improvements are reaching key milestones. In Madrid, Metro de Madrid is resuming full service on Line 7 between Gregorio Marañón and Pitis, with an accelerated reopening of Line 6 between Argüelles and Ciudad Universitaria scheduled for September 1. However, Line 6 will face 48-hour weekend closures between Lucero and Cuatro Caminos on September 26–27 and October 3–4; the EMT will provide a free special bus service (SE6) running between Laguna and Cuatro Caminos with peak frequencies of 3 to 5 minutes to mitigate impact. Additionally, the Cercanías C-5 line has experienced delays due to high temperatures and a train breakdown in Alcorcón. In Barcelona, TMB has completed a €11.5 million renovation of Line 1 between Florida and Plaça de Sants to improve reliability. Sants. Valencia is reopening the Aragó, Amistat, Ayora, and Marítim stations on August 31 following a €24 million tunnel renovation. In Sevilla, Tussam Line 27 will change its route on September 28 to terminate at Prado de San Sebastián following the TB1 tramway expansion. The Tranvibús service will also extend to Plaza del Duque, utilizing a new automated camera system to monitor unauthorized vehicles in reserved lanes; a two-to-three-month informative period precedes the implementation of 200-euro fines in early 2027. Furthermore, the planned Metro Line 3 route has been modified to run underground through Bellavista and Valme Hospital, with adjustments in Los Bermejales to bypass the central boulevard. In Málaga, Metro extension construction will divert EMT lines 15 and 18 starting September 29. To manage the return of students and families, Madrid is offering free EMT bus trips and 30-minute Bicimad bike-sharing sessions on September 7 and 8. In Tarragona, the EMT is launching annual subscriptions and increasing customer service staffing for September, coinciding with the implementation of winter schedules and the end of the L-16 beach line. Meanwhile, Alicante is doubling capacity on urban bus Line 7P starting September 1, and the Alcalá 29, rerouting traffic to Avenida de Guadaíra tramway project remains 75% complete.
