Spanish sports clubs in the Melilla and Almería regions continue their preparations and competitive activities for the 2026/2027 season. UD Melilla, competing in Group IX of the Tercera Federación, transitioned from a final preseason phase into active league play. Following a perfect start to the season with six wins in six matches, the team has worked to maintain its solo position at the top of the standings. As the season progressed, the squad faced challenges regarding travel and pitch dimensions, specifically during preparations for an away fixture against Atlético Porcuna at the San Benito Municipal Stadium. Coach Miguel Rivera has emphasized the necessity of concentration and adaptation to smaller fields, stating that the team must treat every game as a new challenge. UD Melilla continues to maintain its leadership in Group IX. In Almería, UD Almería continues its preparations for the Segunda Federación, having bolstered its roster with Javi Muñoz and Leonardo Lelo. In women's football, UD Almería Femenino entered a league break seeking their first win in Segunda Federación. Basketball developments in the region include Saúl Ramos joining CB Almería and Adesa 80 Baloncesto launching a Winter School for children. Recent updates ~~indicate~~ confirm that UD Melilla continues to maintain its leadership in the Tercera Federación.
