Coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, recent reports have highlighted broader challenges regarding elderly welfare and cognitive health in Spain. While organizations like AMAS expand home assistance to combat loneliness, and groups like Colectivos de Acción Solidaria (CAS) advocate for improved care models, structural issues persist. For instance, up to 40% of homes in certain regions lack architectural adaptations for aging residents. Furthermore, neurologists have warned against the ‘diagnostic eclipsing’ of cognitive changes in individuals with disabilities, stressing the need for caregivers to distinguish between normal aging and treatable neurological conditions.
