The Spanish national wheelchair handball team secured its first World Championship title by defeating Japan 2-1 in the final held at the Palau d'Esports in Granollers, Spain. Spain’s journey to the 4th Wheelchair Handball World Championship included a group stage victory against Libya and a loss to France. They progressed through the knockout stages by defeating Brazil in the quarterfinals and Chile in the semifinals. In that semifinal match, Lorenzo Edjang scored the decisive goal to ensure Spain’s first-ever appearance in a World Championship final. Throughout the tournament, Edjang recorded 12 goals and Alejos contributed 10. Portugal completed the podium, taking third place after defeating Chile in the consolation final.
