The Spanish wine industry continues to emphasize cultural heritage and specialized production, utilizing traditional subterranean ‘calados’ for storage and enotourism. A growing movement toward minimal intervention and natural wines is supported by a new generation of viticulturists focusing on artisanal projects and minority grape varieties. Cultural festivities and immersive harvest experiences are expanding across the country. In Moraleja del Vino, the Grape Harvest Festival features traditional harvesting methods and artisanal markets. In the Moriles region, the XXVIII Cata de Moriles Expo Wine, themed ‘Tesón’ (Perseverance), aims to highlight the sector’s resilience following mildew challenges. Enotourism is evolving through highly specialized activities. In Galicia, wineries including Martín Códax, Regina Viarum, Viña Costeira, and As Laxas are organizing harvest experiences. To further promote the region’s five denominations of origin—Monterrei, O Ribeiro, Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, and Valdeorras—Turismo de Galicia has selected new promotional posters by designers Ajubel and Helena Moreno for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Strategic focus remains on tourism and rural development. In Jerez, despite losing the ‘Spanish City of Wine 2027’ title to Montilla in a vote of 7 to 3, the local government plans to leverage its 2026 designation as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy to promote its wine heritage. In Castilla-La Mancha, the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the La Mancha Denomination of Origin held a seminar exploring how wine culture and enotourism can combat rural depopulation and drive sustainable economic growth. Recent industry recognition has highlighted key enotourism successes. At the VIII Spanish Wine Routes Enotourism Awards, The Sherry Gallery in the Marco de Jerez region was named Best Enotourism Establishment in Spain, while the Alma Jerez collaborative project won for Best Enotourism Experience.
