The Condado de Huelva wine region in Andalusia has gained recognition for its sustainable tourism initiatives and its unique orange wine, which is produced through a natural aromatization process and aged in oak casks. The Condado de Huelva Wine Route was designated as the ‘European Project of the Month 2026’ by Europe Direct Huelva, highlighting its efforts under the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan. Following this recognition, the Condado de Huelva Wine Route was officially integrated into the Rutas del Vino de España network after certification by ACEVIN. This expansion, which also included the León route, brings the total number of destinations in the national network to 40, encompassing over 800 municipalities and approximately 2,600 tourism-related companies. The Rutas del Vino de España brand serves as a major national reference, attracting more than three million visitors annually. Additionally, the municipality of Montilla in Córdoba has been named the ‘Spanish Wine City 2027’ by the Association of Spanish Wine Cities (ACEVIN). Represented by the Montilla-Moriles wine route, the town is renowned for its viticultural tradition, particularly its Pedro Ximénez wines. To qualify for this designation, municipalities must be part of the ‘Wine Routes of Spain’ product club. The selection process is held annually but is suspended during years when Spain hosts the European Wine City title to avoid domestic competition for the honor. In connection with this designation, the XXVIII Moriles Wine Tasting (Expo Wine Moriles) is scheduled for October 23 to 25. Organized by the Moriles City Council and the Association of Moriles Wineries, the event will include guest wineries such as Bodegas Arrabal Rodríguez from Montilla-Moriles and Bodegas EMENDIS from the Penedès region to foster commercial opportunities.
