Japanese educational institutions are implementing various specialized programs to enhance student skills in professional and global contexts. In mid-August, schools such as Toshimagaoka Girls' Junior and Senior High School conducted intensive English-based Global Studies Programs focusing on identity, diversity, and social problem-solving. Kamakura Women's University Junior and Senior High School also held intensive English training sessions to improve communication confidence. Other institutions are focusing on vocational and specialized knowledge. Kobe Shosen University announced a public lecture on the ‘Basics of Intellectual Property’ as a precursor to a 2027 certificate program, while the Japan University of Economics Tokyo Shibuya Campus scheduled hands-on workshops in entertainment-related fields, such as DJing and fashion design, to engage prospective students. Recent initiatives have further emphasized English immersion and critical thinking. From August 28 to 30, Eiko Gakuen held an English Immersion Camp for first-year high school students featuring workshops on intercultural understanding and debate. To promote independent research, the school prohibited the use of Wikipedia and generative AI during debate preparation. Additionally, Salesio Gakuin Junior and Senior High School hosted the SLICE program from August 18 to 20. This event brought together students from 10 private schools in Kanagawa Prefecture for workshops led by Harvard University students covering topics such as AI, investment, economics, and global equality.
