Various speleology and outdoor technical training programs have been announced for late 2026 in Italy. Initial announcements included introductory courses in Lecco, focusing on karst theory and practical cave excursions, and in Castellana Grotte, where a 52nd edition course covers rope progression, geology, and cave biology. Subsequent announcements expanded the scope to include specialized technical training. These programs include the 40th Speleology Course in the Carso and Friuli regions, as well as advanced instruction in digital mapping. Technical curricula involve GIS, 3D modeling, drones, and photogrammetry for cave documentation, alongside online training in digital cartography and GPS usage for torrentismo. In September 2026, the GSSG announced its 33rd Speleology Course in Trieste, scheduled from October 16 to November 20. This first-level course focuses on vertical speleology and rope progression techniques under instructors recognized by the Società Speleologica Italiana. The curriculum combines theoretical lessons in cave development, geology, entomology, and topography with practical sessions in the karst cavities of the Trieste region. Organizers noted they reserve the right to postpone the course depending on potential health situation developments.
