Corigliano-Rossano is hosting several major sporting events intended to promote the region and encourage tourism destagionalization. In mid-September, the city hosted the European Taekwondo ITF UNION Open Championship 2026 at the PalaBrillia, featuring approximately 600 elite athletes from 16 nations. Following this, the “Mare in Movimento” maritime event was scheduled for late September. Promoted by the Italian Motonautics Federation and supported by the Ministry of Sport, the initiative aims to leverage the local coastline to extend the tourism season. Senator Ernesto Rapani presented the project at the Senate of the Republic, emphasizing its role in tourism destagionalization. The program includes a focus on the “Blue Economy,” offering educational training for students regarding maritime safety, sustainability, and marine-related career opportunities. Prior to the racing phase, local students participated in three days of educational activities led by FIM instructors, which included hands-on experience with jet skis and inflatable boats. The competitive phase of “Mare in Movimento” is set to begin on September 26 in Corigliano-Rossano and Rossano. In Schiavonea, the schedule includes the Campionato Italiano Diporto Touring Cup, the Offshore One Green Class, and the Honda Offshore. At Lido Sant’Angelo in Rossano, the program features the Campionato Italiano Moto d’Acqua Endurance (Offshore F1 and F2) and the Campionato Italiano Hydrofly, which includes acrobatic water displays.
