Various regional sporting events have been organized across Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, the Balkans, focusing on community engagement, tourism, and inclusivity. In late September, Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted running events in Čitluk and Vogošća. The ‘Broćanska desetka’ in Čitluk included specialized races for children with developmental disabilities and persons with disabilities, while the Vogošća 5K drew 268 finishers. In October, scheduled events expanded to include the Palić Lake Duathlon in Serbia, which serves as the Serbian Duathlon Open Championship and attracts international participants. Additionally, the sixth ‘Stazama Bosne Srebrene’ Srebrenine’ international sports manifestation was set to take place scheduled for October 10 in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Organizers of the Srebrenica event noted that “any political or national symbols are strictly prohibited during the races” to promote social gathering and tourism. Further regional activity includes the 12th Poljud Cup, an international rod fishing competition in Split, Croatia. Additionally, Mali Lošinj is hosting the 30th All-Croatian Sports Competition for Homeland War Disabled (SŠNIDOR) from October 9 to 11. Featuring over 1,000 participants across 22 teams, the competition includes nine disciplines such as wheelchair racing, shooting, and table tennis. Officials, including Minister Tomo Medved, emphasized the importance of the gathering for the “physical and psychosocial empowerment of war veterans.”
