The Municipality of Lamia is implementing various community and international sports initiatives throughout October 2026. Local programs include environmental cleanup efforts at Isiadaki, a 3x3 basketball tournament, and the ‘Sports for All’ program, which offers aerobics, Pilates, and traditional dance. These community-focused activities are supported by the Lamia Youth Council and the General Secretariat of Sports. In addition to local engagement, the region is hosting the Lamia Cup 2026, a Tennis Europe Juniors U12 tournament. Organized by the Phthiotis Tennis Club, the international event brings together over 80 young athletes from nine European countries. This tournament is part of a broader strategy to promote Lamia as a sports and tourism destination by integrating athletics with local culture. Expanding its reach to the academic sector, the Municipality has announced a sports and educational program for the 2026-2027 school year. Developed alongside the Regional Directorate of Education of Central Greece and local education directorates, the initiative targets primary and secondary students to foster “cooperation, respect, equality, and inclusion.” The upcoming school calendar includes a 3x3 Basketball Schools tournament in November 2026, an inclusive event for World Disability Day in December, and a Christmas Futsal tournament. Further activities scheduled for early 2027 include an anti-violence week in February, a tug-of-war tournament in March, and a Kids Athletics event in April.
