Sports cooperation and competition in Northern Cyprus

Overview

High-level officials from the Northern Cyprus Turkish National Olympic Committee met with a Turkish delegation to enhance sports cooperation. The discussions aimed to strengthen relations between sports federations, support athlete participation in international organizations, and develop youth and sports projects to bolster the international standing of sports in Northern Cyprus.

Following these institutional efforts, Northern Cyprus hosted a major multi-championship martial arts event at the Kyrenia Eurasia Taekwondo Center. The competition included the 23rd Euro-Asia GTF Taekwondo Championship, the 36th TRNC WTF Taekwondo Championship, and the 11th World Budo Martial Arts Championship. Approximately 150 athletes from nations including Turkey, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Bulgaria participated, with Northern Cyprus holding a significant lead in the medal count during the second day of the event.
