The Star TV series ‘Tuzlu Kahve’, produced by Poll Films (Polat Yağcı), premiered on September 1, 2026. The family comedy-drama explores the intersection of the İpekli and Kutaygil families with the Aydınoğlu family, driven by a long-standing historical enmity and differing lifestyles during marriage preparations. The narrative focuses on the relationship between Derin Kutaygil (played by Eda Ece) and Mehmet Aydınoğlu (played by Buğra Gülsoy), a holding heir returning to Turkey from the United States. After Derin discovers a betrayal in her previous relationship with Hakan, she and Mehmet attempt to build a connection while facing intense pressure from their social circles. Characters such as Elit and Candan act as obstacles to their burgeoning romance. Central conflicts are fueled by the Aydınoğlu family, specifically Osman Aydınoğlu (portrayed by Settar Tanrıöğen), an authoritative and traditional figure whose decisions regarding marriage are critical to the plot. Mehmet faces ongoing tension between his desire for independence and his family’s social obligations. The prominent cast includes Eda Ece, Buğra Gülsoy, Nebahat Çehre, Binnur Kaya, and Sarp Apak. Filming is located in Beykoz, Istanbul, utilizing the historic atmosphere of the Eski Kundura Fabrikası studios, various historical mansions, and waterfront locations. As of mid-September 2026, the series has experienced significant digital engagement. While the first two episodes reached 23 million and 15 million views on YouTube respectively, subsequent episodes and reruns are no longer being uploaded to that platform. Viewers must now use HBO Max to access the series online, where new episodes typically become available within 24 hours of the Star TV broadcast. By late September 2026, viewer interest has shifted toward upcoming plot developments involving Gökhan Aydınoğlu, the eldest son of the Aydınoğlu family and husband to Candan (played by Şevval Sam).
